The Origin Story:
Expertise Forged in Sound
Our founder, Neil Macey, didn’t start in a corporate office; he started with his hands deep in the mechanics of music. His journey wasn’t about quick sales; it was about the relentless pursuit of audio perfection.
This expertise was forged in two crucial areas:
Technical Mastery: The journey began on the technical side of the music scene, repairing, servicing, and upgrading professional turntables for vinyl enthusiasts. This hands-on work with delicate electronics and audio physics taught him exactly how sound works, from the microscopic groove of a record to the massive output of a speaker. This focus on meticulous, detailed service remains our core.
Acoustic Ambience: Neil then spent three years as a resident DJ in some of Ibiza’s most iconic venues. The goal was to master the atmosphere, carefully setting the mood and soundtracking the sunset. This taught him the essential art of ambient sound – how volume levels and speaker placement affect a room full of people eating, drinking, and chatting.
This combination of deep technical knowledge and real-world acoustic experience is what Volume Unit brings to your venue.
